Thanksgiving, Christmas, New year’s, oh my!
January 7, 2013
Ahhhhhh holiday season is over. *collective sigh* It was SO brilliant to be in the States for the whole of the holiday season for the first time in seven years. SEVEN YEARS WITHOUT THANKSGIVING. Imagine.
We spent loads of time with family, a little time with friends (two parties! one a roaring success, Cora-babysitting-wise. One, notsomuch.)
Cora is 18 months old. Omg a little toddler. It’s such a fun age — she kills us with the cute!
She is speaking in (some) sentences, and she can spell her name aloud. Whaaaaaaaaaaa???
All of her teeth are in for the moment. Hoping for a break before the two-year molars. Sleep is, well, still not great. Up a couple of times at night, but she’s in our bed, so we feel equipped to handle it without too much sleep lost. She still just doesn’t seem to need much. *shrug*
She’s still nursing. <3

Halloween
November 1, 2012
We had a lovely week of Halloween celebration. First off, we went to a baby party dressed as The Golden Girls. It was silly silly. Cora was Sophia, but she wouldn’t wear her tiny old-lady wig, so she really just looked like Harry Potter.
Then the day before Halloween, I decided that she needed a sweet little costume all her own, so my sister and I threw together a little ghost on the day.
She was precious. We didn’t go trick-or-treating, just walked Piper down the street. Next year I’d imagine we’ll go full tilt.
Ahhhhhhh beaching

Mama got some Vitamin D! We made our way down to Orange Beach, Alabama, to Chris’s granny’s house, which is on the intercoastal waterway of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s glorious and peaceful, and we’ve been holidaying there for years (and Chris much much longer!), typically with like eight friends in tow.
This time, we got to introduce our darling baby to the ocean for the first time.

I’ll let this picture demonstrate how she felt about it.
Ha she LOVED it! We always had an inkling that she was a water baby considering she’s always loved baths, and you can’t get her off a splash pad. But it was so sweet to see her enjoy herself so much. She just wanted to be walked along while dipping her mouth in every once in awhile.
She loved the sand, too, and spent time playing in it with DaDa every day, while Mama got some much-needed relaxing-in-the-sun time.
We had such a wonderful time hanging out with some of Chris’s fam, plus our lovely friends Matt and Marina, who joined us for a few days.
The Little has a thing about climbing into chairs on her own. She gets so proud. Her little throne!
Granny has a little white dog named Buddy, and Cora followed him around all weekend on her hands and knees, saying, “ruff ruff”! It was so freaking cute. Her words have just gotten out of control recently. I’m going to have to write them all out here!
Little beach baby. Can’t wait to go back!
Brilliant Memorial Day weekend
May 29, 2012
We had such a lovely weekend; I hated for it to end! I’ve been feeling quite down lately (as I’m wont to do), and three days of blissful family and friend-time has made things look a bit more rosy.
Our friend Sherry visited us for her birthday, so we spent Saturday night and Sunday celebrating, which was lovely.
During Sherry’s birthday lunch, Cora got a bit fussy. Chris took her for a walk and she actually went to sleep. On someone other than Mama!!! Amazing.
Yesterday we decided to pack a picnic and head to the Piedmont Park splash pad.
We weren’t sure how the splash pad would work, as Cora isn’t walking yet, but she had SO. MUCH. FUN.
Definitely going to spend some more time there this summer!
